Sunday’s Pretties

Guess whose Easter dresses were delivered this week? Now, I know SK shouldn't be here for Easter, but now she'll have a pretty dress just in case and she & Ella will have pretty matching dresses to wear all summer. Isn't the detail beautiful? Sophie also has something pretty to wear home from the hospital and I couldn't love it any more. We decided on a french hand-sewn dress instead of smocking and I love the tiny pink flowers and bonnet crafted from an antique hankie. As if that wasn't pretty enough, here's a sweet little secret. The slip from Ella's coming home dress had her name embroidered at the hem, so we added sweet Sophie's name just above it. Isn't that a wonderful thing for them to share? Isn't Gran amazing? ...

Bright, Bright, Sunshiny Day

It was the perfect morning to spend at the zoo. We rode the carousel {or watched from the sidelines}, took a train ride, got in the pen with the kangaroos, went BACK to the aviary {against mommy's better judgment}, looked at the pretty pink flamingos, watched Simba and Nala sunbathe, pretended we were the "biggest animal at the zoo", and sang Taylor Swift all the way home. We also managed to grab Zaxby's for lunch, pick up a movie for mommy and a movie for Ella, and take a nice long nap. ...

Burger Queens

Just because I have to work this week, doesn't mean Ella isn't having a wonderful Spring Break. She spent the first half of the week at Garan's and she'll be hanging out with Nana on Thursday and Friday. Yesterday, she had a playdate with some of her best girls at Burger King and boy was she happy to tell me all about it. Thanks, Riley & Chaney, for making Ella's day so much fun! ...

A Two-Post Kind of Day

Does your heart beat a little faster when you get a package in the mail? Mine does... especially when it is something that I didn't order myself. That has happened to me twice this week. Today, however, might have been the best. When I saw this box on the kitchen counter at my parents' house I knew it was going to be a good one... When I opened the box and saw this, it was confirmed. please excuse this awful picture... it is awfully gloomy outside and I tried multiple locations before giving up. you women who take your own belly pictures deserve kudos!! A week or so ago, my Aunt Lane {who lives in Kentucky and supplies us with all of those lovely Thyme Baby lotions and potions} emailed me about what I needed or wanted for the baby. I told her several practical things that we ...

Warning: Bare Belly Below!

This is what we do at night. For whatever reason, Ella finds it absolutely fascinating to rub my bare belly. Consequently, it feels fabulous so I don't generally complain. She requested special pink lotion {Johnson & Johnson}, so Garan picked her up some at the grocery store and she's been rubbing it on Sophie Kae ever since. I have the most well-moisturized baby bump in the country. ...

Big Sister in Training

This is the face of a VERY happy girl at our local hospital on Monday night. She & Garan met me after work for a spin around the mall, a food-court dinner and sibling class. This photo was right after Ella got her official name tag and just before she asked us to go so she could do the class by herself. We toured the labor and delivery rooms {this is actually the room I was in while laboring with Ella} and talked all about the baby warmer and the soft baby blankets. We also peeked down the hall and saw the c-section rooms {where we'll be} and the waiting room where our SD will hold Sophie Kae up for the family to see. Then we headed upstairs for a peek at the postpartum rooms {that have been COMPLETELY renovated since Ella's birth} and she was tickled that daddy will be ...

Homesick

We hate bidding our SD farewell on Monday mornings, but we look forward to welcoming him home on Fridays! Absence really does make the heart grow fonder. Luckily, he's been working close to home lately and the weather is keeping him home tomorrow. I'd like to think it was the little "sit in" Ella held over the weekend, but we'll take him however we can get him. ...
