Dear Scout, I'm not even kidding when I tell you that you surprised the heck out of my last week. This is exactly why moms write notes tied to little elves in the top of Christmas boxes -- BECAUSE THEY FORGET WHERE THE ELF LIVES DURING THE OFF SEASON. Dear Elf on the Shelf, Moms around the world are sharing all the reasons why they hate you: you're too much trouble, you make a mess, you don't love Jesus. Meanwhile, I'm over here loving how sweet my girls are in the morning, how quickly they get out of bed, and how well behaved they are. Thank you. Dear Christmas Decorations, You are forever my favorite. ...

The Monthly Report | December

The Monthly Report: December | tazandbelly.com

lighting | Christmas lights is the obvious answer, right? I think we strung more lights this year than ever before. We have so many more surfaces to decorate in this house, the girls requested extra lights in their room, and we added lights to our front porch for the first time ever. I briefly considered getting complicated with the outdoor lights, but a simple swag ended up being my favorite. We're also lighting plenty of cinnamon scented candles this month. One, because it smells like Christmas and, two, because our puppy found a source for rotten potatoes and we can't seem to keep her from eating them. spending | I'm actually hoping to be spending less this month. We've already bought our tree and any extra decorations that we'll be adding this year and I'm so close to being finished ...

What I Read in November

This is perhaps going to be the most lackluster reading recaps of all time. I have no excuses for why I couldn't get into any books this month, but I struggled to read anything. The only books I made it more than a few pages into were both audiobooks and one of those I haven't even finished. Basically, I'm a failure when it comes to reading this month, but I have high hopes for December. Stay tuned to find out why! 59. November Moments

Best November Moments | tazandbelly.com

November has been such a good month for us as a family -- we celebrated countless birthdays, hosted our first Thanksgiving (and there were only a cool 45 people here), welcomed out of town family, watched Ella dance in our first parade of the holiday season, picked up our Christmas tree, and loved on the sweetest new Sister Cousin ever. I can't believe we're only two days away from the busiest and best season of the year, so I'm stuffing this post full of all of our favorite November moments, iPhone style. Now it's officially time for Christmas! ...

Collaboreads + A New Book Link Up

Collaboreads: Anne of Green Gables | tazandbelly.com

Affiliate links appear in this post. Any purchases made using these links will earn Taz + Belly a small commission. You can read more about our affiliate relationships here. For the first time in Collaboreads history, I didn't finish my book. Actually... I haven't finished a single book this month. I tried to remember the last time that happened, but it's been years since I went an entire month without reading a single title. There are still 72 hours left and it's altogether possible that I'll finish at least one, but I have my doubts. I'm actually right in the middle of several, really good, books -- I just haven't found the time to read as much in November as I have in previous months. That should change in December, so I'm giving myself some grace. Just in case you’ve ...

Best Birthday Ever

Vera Claire Hospital Day | tazandbelly.com

If you follow along on Instagram Stories, then you'll know that Monday was pretty much the best day ever. Not only because it was my birthday (hello, thirty-eight), but because the sweetest niece in all the land finally arrived. We had plans for a slow morning and I even left for a 5:15 workout, only to be called back by my mom. Kamin got to skip her induction altogether, because by the time they got her on the monitors and ready to go, she was already very much in labor. We got the kids ready in a ridiculously short amount of time and were at the hospital in right at an hour (keep in mind the drive is 45 minutes -- we were FAST). Vera Claire arrived at 9:25, to a waiting room full of family. Here is a little peek at the best birthday ever. ...

The Friday Five | November 2017

The Friday Five | tazandbelly.com

Affiliate links appear in this post. Any purchases made using these links will earn Taz + Belly a small commission. You can read more about our affiliate relationships here. How about a good, old fashioned, catch-me-up post? We live in a pretty small town and, with that, comes all sorts of interesting things. The neighboring town (still in our same school zone) holds a hay bale decorating contest each year and the elementary school always participates. Sophie was chosen to be on the team this year and they just happened to be decorating on a day I was at home sick. I ran Hudson to school for my sister and then swung back by to snap a few photos for the yearbook. The kids had so much fun decorating and I wish I could show you their finished Blues Brothers inspired creation, ...
