A Blog About My Favorite Things

Snowman on a Stick!

December 19, 2013 by Kristin Fields Leave a Comment

When I asked Ella earlier in the week what she wanted to carry to her dance party to share with her friends, she said this. Considering I needed us to make treats a few days ahead of time, that wasn’t going to work. We decided instead to make these, but I had a major Pinterest fail. I’m not sure why, but I can NOT seem to dip anything into candy melts without it falling apart. So after I stuck lollipop sticks into two cartons of Oreo’s, we bailed on that project and tried something else altogether.

Ella suggested making marshmallow snowmen (and of course, a quick search on Pinterest found me plenty to choose from). Fortunately we had everything we needed to make them, so we got to work after school on Tuesday.

Ella pushed the marshmallows onto fresh lollipop sticks, while I worked on “gluing” the brim of their hats onto their heads. In hindsight, I should have used black icing for this part, but after a rough start, we weren’t using all of our brain cells.<

I did use black frosting to stick a Rolo candy on top of the Oreos to make a hat and in a GENIUS move, we used orange flavored Tic Tacs for the noses. Fortunately, marshmallows are pretty sticky, so we just had to push them into the top one and they stuck pretty well.

Instead of using fruit leather for the scarves, we just tied gold and silver ribbons on and called it a day. I’m not kidding you when I say by this point I was starting to be OVER ALL THE THINGS. Josh started laughing at me and asking who exactly I was making these for – our dance friends or my blog friends!

I couldn’t find an edible pen locally, so I grabbed a tube of liquid candy and dotted the eyes and mouths onto their faces. Let’s face it, this isn’t the best job I’ve ever done, but my kids still thought I hung the moon.

We used clear cello bags to package them up and now were off to get our party on! Please tell me your Christmas treats were cuter than these!?
