How many books could you read if you had an entire day to devote to nothing but reading? I’m not sure what my number is, but we’re about to find out.

I’m sure I could find something else to do with my time. There are a whole list of projects that need tackling and I’m always behind in some area of housekeeping, but since the Dewey’s Readathon only happens twice a year and I’ve never been able to participate before (because: children), I’m taking it as a sign that I had nothing much on my agenda for Saturday. I’m under no illusions that I’ll be able to read for the full 24 hours, but I’m setting a goal to read as many hours as I can during the course of the day. Want to hear my plan?

Fuel | I’m heading to Trader Joe’s after work to grab some treats and snacks for tomorrow. If I don’t have to spend too much time on meal prep or planning, I can spend more time between the pages. I’ll grab the girls some ready-to-eat options for lunch and dinner while I’m at it.

Comfy Clothes | I have a half-marathon training run scheduled for tomorrow, so I’m going to knock that out first thing (with an audiobook!). I’m planning to lay all of my clothes out tonight, so I won’t have any excuses for ditching after I wake up. For the rest of the day, I’ll be in leggings, cozy socks, and an oversized sweater. Nothing itchy, no uncomfortable waistbands, and nothing stiff or difficult to maneuver in.

Break Time Activities | While I’m planning to read for most of the day, I’m still a mama and will have plenty of responsibilities during the day. I’m making a list of things that I need to get done tomorrow and will use those to take a break from reading (in between chapters or books). Think blog photos, wrapping a few gifts, switching out laundry, and cleaning the bathrooms. Nothing that will take more than 15-20 minutes at a time and will provide a nice stretch break when I need to move around. The only thing that might keep me away from my books for a longer period of time (other than a nap!), is the Alabama game. We’ll see how I’m feeling at kickoff, but I might just read with the television muted.

Books | Luckily, I just unpacked a box of unread titles and several other things have been accumulating on my bedside table. I have plenty of things to choose from, but these are the titles I’m hoping to finish tomorrow: A Man Called Ove (audiobook for running, driving, etc.), Stella by Starlight (I’ve already started this one, so I’m planning to finish it up before lunch), Turtles All the Way Down (the newest book by John Green, that I’m hoping will be a quick read), and The Sunlight Pilgrims (I just received this title from Blogging for Books, so I need to get a review up in the next week). I’m also in the middle of A Column of Fire and A Clash of Kings, so I plan to pick those up if I need a break in between more contemporary style fiction. I’m not trying to finish either of these, but the genre is so different from everything else I’m planning to read, that I think it might be nice to read a few chapters here and there. Last on my list are a few kids’ titles that we need to review for the blog. I think it will be fun to read those with Sophie throughout the day — both to provide a break from grown up words and to give her some attention since I’ll be otherwise occupied for most of the day.

I’m planning to keep notes on what books I read, how many pages, and how many hours I spend actually reading. I’ll be updating you throughout the day in Instagram Stories on my main account  and will be posting photos on my timeline over on my Bookstagram account. I’m hoping to blog about the experience on Monday, provided I don’t need a really long nap!
