Holiday Hop: Printable Placemats

November 18, 2015 by Kristin Fields 4 Comments

I am so excited to be linking up with these lovely ladies today to bring you all sorts of Thanksgiving goodness. If you’re looking for menu ideas, tablescapes or just a simple activity to keep your little ones entertained, then you’ve come to the right place!

My parents are hosting Thanksgiving in the barn this year and I can’t wait to see the beautiful tables my mom manages to pull together. She is the quintessential hostess and the barn is always the perfect place for a fun family get together (try saying that three times fast!). Since we’re leaning towards a more rustic, buffet style meal this year, I wanted to come up with something beautiful for the table that would also be fun for the little ones joining the meal.

My girls love nothing more than a good coloring session and since “adult coloring books” are a big trend this year, you don’t even have to use your kids as an excuse to make these an integral part of your table. Add crayons to your table setting or leave a bucket of fall hued colored pencils nearby and dare your guests not to color in between courses.

Maybe you’re planning for a not-so-traditional color palette this year — I’ve designed these place mats in both black and brown, so they’ll be perfect no matter how you set the table.

The girls and I couldn’t stand to wait until the big day, so we’ve been “practicing” our coloring skills all week long. They favor crayons and colored pencils, but I’ve tried my hand at some inexpensive watercolors and they turned out so pretty! You can always have your little ones work on decorating these pretty pages while you’re finishing up the turkey and they will be bright and beautiful just in time to set the table.
