Birthday "Breakpast"

September 14, 2010 by Kristin Fields 4 Comments

Have you been waiting with bated breath for the Birthday Party recap? Sorry… you’ve got one more week. We decided that since Alabama played Penn State this past weekend {don’t judge} that we’d be better off waiting until next weekend to celebrate the day. Our SD was headed to Tuscaloosa and we decided to eliminate the guilty feeling all these Bama fans might have had! Instead, the birthday girl requested breakfast in bed and cupcakes for lunch, and boy did we oblige.

When I asked her what kind of special birthday “breakpast” she wanted she thought for a minute and declared Fruit Loops with milk. After I recovered, I talked her into something cooked and she opted for pigs in a blanket.

With the help of this little one-legged booger, I got up early and made an oven-full of pigs and a big pot of coffee {for me} and we surprised her in bed.

Sophie laid down on top of her and we all sang Happy Birthday and for the first time in two years, she woke up with a smile on her sweet face.

I asked her if she was ready to open presents and she declared, “After Breakfast!” I tell you, this is a child after my own heart. Nothing beats breakfast. Daddy was starving, so he fixed us a plate, too, and we watched her eat it up.

She finally decided to dig into a few presents and breakfast got set aside. SD & I have her a really great surprise in store for her party {NO, I’m not pregnant!}, but I wanted her to have something fun to open on her birthday.

She started getting really excited when she pulled about an inch of paper from the box and began to guess at the contents.

Let me tell you that Barbie’s are a LOT more chic than they were in 1985. I got a Black Label Barbie in a little black dress and it is super cute. She also got bathroom furniture, but unfortunately our potty was missing it’s lid and when we took it back they were all out! In its place, she got the kitchen furniture and a loveseat, but we’re keeping our eye out for that claw foot tub.

Those weren’t the only gifts she got this weekend. She opened Angelina’s Birthday book from our friend Leila on Friday night and this Bumblebee Pillow Pet from Gran & Poppy Saturday afternoon. She’s been begging for one since those commercials first started coming on and Poppy managed to track one down locally. She’s added him to the bedtime mix and we now have three white bunnies, one pink bunny and a very large bumblebee in our bed!
