A Blog About My Favorite Things

Day in the Life

October 21, 2010 by Kristin Fields 1 Comment

So, one of my favorite bloggers shared a “day in the life” post earlier in the week and I loved it. I though maybe I should try that. Unfortunately, I picked the most boring day know to man. Sorry about that!

5:26 – Woke up eleven minutes later than I meant to. I can blame this on the fact that Sophie woke up at 11:18, 12:30 and 3:45. She’s teething and uncomfortable, so my usually good sleeper is a bit restless.

6:00 – I’m out of the shower and hear a little birdy talking and cooing from her crib. Maybe if I ignore her for a bit, she’ll stay happy. I wake Ella up, put her clothes on the couch and turn cartoons on. She has instructions to get dressed or the TV is going off. We have to do what works on mornings that daddy isn’t here. He is in charge of getting the girls up and at em for me in the mornings.

6:10 – Wear my favorite dress. I need to run to the courthouse this morning and like to look pretty and professional, even when I didn’t get much sleep.

6:15 – Get this little bitty up – she is always sitting up when I go in to get her now. She is pretty impressed with her new skills. Ella is finally dressed and brushing her teeth. Maybe we’ll get out the door on time.

6:30 – Leave house… ten minutes late. How cute is this dress/leggings ensemble, though? I bought that dress at K-Mart last year, but I think it looks very Boden-esque.

6:34 – Pass the pasture where “Ella’s cows” live on the way to Heidi’s. We look for them and talk about them every morning. It is foggy and I comment that she’ll have to look really hard to see them sleeping this morning. She says, “Mom, if I look really hard with my special eyes, I can see them.” Duly noted.

6:40 – Sophie dives for Heidi and her breakfast, Ella is undecided about what to eat and doesn’t want me to leave. I’m out the door, listening to Rick & Bubba and wishing I could go back to bed. I’ve had a cold and can’t seem to shake it.

6:55 – I see a lot of this.

7:25 – Finally, I see this.

7:30 – Walking through the park to work. Taking blurry pictures because I don’t want the people around me to notice, especially the construction workers who have been renovating City Hall for months. They are in my way and EVERYWHERE this morning.

7:32 – Attempt a photo in the elevator. I had only one floor to pull it off {somebody got off on 6 and I’m on 7} and it didn’t work out. Oh well.

8:50 – Head to the courthouse to investigate “technical difficulties.” Take ten boxes through security and wait forever on an elevator. Difficulties turn out to be non-fixable. Good thing they aren’t ours.

9:10 – Back in my office. Lots of emails, phone calls and filing going on today. Web updates, too. I like those.

9:12 – Get funny text from Antonio {that’s SD}. He sends me a lot of song lyrics. We always joke that this song sounds a lot like us. High school sweethearts. {While typing this post I get another message from SD — it’s Smashing Pumpkins this time. 1979. The year we were born. He’s so cute.}.

11:00 – Head out to lunch with Leila. Forget my camera. Tell her to remember to take iPhone photos for me. Forget to take iPhone photos.

11:15 – Watch Leila try on ridiculous outfits from local boutique for a fashion show. She’s gonna kill me for sharing that. Too bad I don’t have those iPhone photos.

11:30 – Swing by Nothing but Noodles for lunch. Again. Good thing I had a little cash this week, the warm noodles have been helping my sore throat. Nothing like comfort food when you’re feeling icky.

12:00 – Back in my office again. Looking at this. Kind of nice outside today.

dayinthelife 013
1:30 – Solve some problems. Starting to feel worse for wear. Thinking this “day in the life” post is going to look pretty boring to you guys.

2:30 – Finish off this box of kleenex from Leila’s office. Sorry!

dayinthelife 014
3:45 – Head home. I’m a little short on hours today, but feeling worse by the minute. I have got to get home and get some rest!

4:45 – I’m at Gran’s. She’s on the phone with Kitty {hey!}, Ella is playing Hide & Go Seek with me and Sophie is sacked out. She’s wearing a kids t-shirt that is way too big for her. Teething is really messing with her tummy and this is her third outfit of the day.

5:15 – Sophie’s up and we’re headed home. Ella goes to Mission Friends on Wednesday nights and spends the night with my parents. It’s a nice break when Josh is traveling.

5:18 – Home. Beemer has moved her crate about 10 feet from it’s normal spot. She has managed to pull an entire load of dirty laundry in there with her. Only one casualty – a plaid shirt I wore to Tuscaloosa on Saturday. The only time it’s ever been worn. Rats.

dayinthelife 015
5:45 – Put Sophie down for evening nap. Yes, I know she just woke up, but it’s the witching hour and she can’t hold her eyes open. She talks for a minute, but is asleep before I know it.

5:50 – Yoga pants and a t-shirt, a benadryl and Crystal Light fruit punch. I lay on the couch for a minute.

6:59 – Text message from SD – Don’t forget Survivor is on. I press record and go back to sleep.

8:00 – Wake up again. Uh oh, I’m really sick. I’m running a temp and a little loopy from the Benadryl. That’s why I only took one. Put a frozen pizza in the oven and watch Survivor.

8:10 – Text SD and call Gran for moral support. Can’t go to work tomorrow – doctor instead. Fill out new patient information packet and go back to sleep.

12:00 – Sophie’s up. I forgot she was still “napping”. Feed her dinner, bottle and play with her for an hour.

1:30 – Back to bed. SO sick – need my hubby.
