A Blog About My Favorite Things

A Little More Christmas

January 11, 2016 by Kristin Fields Leave a Comment

We are so fortunate for extended families who live close by AND we celebrate with them the day before and after Christmas, so we aren’t fighting to get everywhere in a single day. We love doing Christmas breakfast three days in a row and seeing all of our favorite people.

On Christmas Eve, it’s off to Nana’s we go. We had Chic-fil-A chicken minis, cinnamon rolls, sausage balls and mimosas. Ummm, it was delicious and the mamas may have laughed way too much. These girlies love each other so much and posed for pictures all morning long.

This was Sophie’s, “hey, why don’t you take a picture of me?!” face.

These mermaid tails were pretty much my pride and joy. I found the pattern over at Modern Vintage Designs and my mom was so sweet to spend four hours helping me whip them up. Since fleece can be so expensive this time of year, I bought inexpensive blankets at Wal-Mart ($2.88 each!) and used two per tail. You guys, I had less than $10 in each one and they were a HUGE hit.

The day after Christmas, we head to my parents’ house (still in our pajamas and looking a hot mess) for more breakfast goodies. My mom made a traditional breakfast and my sister made THE VERY BEST hash brown casserole of all time. Can you tell I was filling up on all of my favorites before LiveWhole365 started?

Oh how I love my mama’s kitchen. I have so many wonderful memories of us gathered around that island. I cannot wait to paint all of those logs bright white and pour concrete countertops and raise my little ones there! Okay, back to Christmas.

Sophie is obsessed with Legos this year and she got several play sets from different people. My sister bought her this camper and she was all smiles.

She was also the only grandchild who hasn’t gotten a handmade gift from my dad at some point, so he made her this beautiful treasure box. She is in love! It is lined with blue velvet and she has all of her rocks and favorite baubles tucked safely inside.

After presents, these three spent the rest of the morning around the table fighting over Lego pieces. It took us a few hours, but the truck and camper finally made it all together and no children were harmed during the making. Almost.
