A Blog About My Favorite Things

October Revisited

December 4, 2012 by Kristin Fields Leave a Comment

So, it’s December 4th and I haven’t really blogged since mid-October. Sure, there have been some P365/weekly updates and a few “thankful” posts,  but you don’t even know how my children dressed up for Halloween! I figured before we could move on into the holiday season, I needed to at least mention the end of October, right?

I decided to go the easy route with pumpkins this year. For whatever reason, I’m struggling to keep up in all areas of parenting / creativity / holidays, etc. We didn’t make it to the pumpkin patch and I just couldn’t force myself to carve pumpkins. I know, I’m a Scrooge. I asked the girls how they felt about painting pumpkins and they were pretty enthusiastic. Aside from the acrylic paint that won’t come out of my wool rug, I’ll count it a success. We even managed to get Molly in on the action, so my girls were thrilled!

Then there was Halloween itself. Ella wanted to be a cheerleader and rather than stress over making a uniform for our local team, I convinced her to be a Bama cheerleader and we shelled out the cash for a two piece NCAA uniform. Adorbs. I also felt a little less guilty about the price since she could wear it every Saturday between then and January 7th (Roll Tide!). There was never much of a question which direction SK’s costume would go. The child is beyond mildly obsessed with all things Disney and since Ella was Minnie Mouse at the age of 2, I just happened to have an adorable costume in the closet. She was smitten. As was I!

We headed to our church for the annual Trunk or Treat Festival and left with way too much candy. Not to mention bounce houses, hayrides and popcorn were to be had. We ran into our favorite Things (our friends and neighbors) and some wonderful family and not only got to trick or treat with them all for a bit, but managed to take six children under the age of 10 to a Mexican restaurant for dinner. In costume. It was awesome!

And just in case you are compelled to compare Minnie’s. How cute are they? SK on the left (October 2012) and Ella on the right (October 2008). I couldn’t manage to find a better picture of here where she was both, facing the camera and had her entire costume on. My children are movers!
