Hello, Friday [June 7, 2019]

Y’all. It’s the Friday before vacation, which is equally exciting and terrifying, since my to-do list is so incredibly long. Ella has dress rehearsal today, which means Josh is on baby duty and we’ll be rolling in well after dark. There’s nothing like repacking your dance bags, doing a load of laundry, and getting up bright and early to do the whole thing over again tomorrow!

Our pool had to have some major upgrades this year, so we were a little later to kick off summer than usual. Since the liner and steps and lights (oh my!) were replaced, we’ve been spending every waking minute outside. Jennifer and Allen brought their kids over for a swim last weekend and it was so fun watching these two together in the pool. We tried to grab some photos of them before the day was over and it proved to be a little more difficult than anticipated! How cute is Saylor’s face and Polly’s little hand? I cracked up when I downloaded these, because it looks like she’s comforting her during a good cry. Let it out, girlfriend.

Also, remember when I snapped this photo and it was basically the exact opposite of the one above?

I joked that my husband was going to yell at me if we had one more package delivered before our trip, but since I don’t have time to go anywhere and try things on, I’ve started ordering ridiculous amounts of shorts and swimsuits to try on in the convenience of my own home. This has proven to be a great strategy — I just use my credit card, so that I can easily return them without tying up my weekly budget.

I mentioned on Wednesday that I hated shorts and many of you agreed! I just wanted a pair of denim shorts that aren’t too thick or too long or too short or too tight and that is nearly impossible to find, unless you want to look 87. I ordered two pairs from Madewell since I love their jeans and kept the cheaper pair, but I already regret it. They are too thick, have zero stretch, and manage to constantly give me a wedgie — I know. The other pair were worse and more expensive and I’m so glad that I returned them. I ordered a pair of white denim from Nordstrom last week and they were also a no-go. They are identical to my favorite denim shorts from pre-Polly — and two sizes larger — and I still hate them. I broke down and ordered a few cheap pairs from Target and feel like I owe it to you to share how amazing they both are! These are the perfect white shorts and these are high-waisted and ultra stretchy. You’re welcome.

If you are looking for good summer music, look no further. Our favorite band released a new album last month and it’s perfection. Another of our favorites released their first album in years and we’re all singing it non-stop. Thank goodness our big girls have fantastic taste when it comes to music.

Even though I’ve been the worst blogger ever since Polly was born, I managed to draft and schedule six whole posts for the weeks we’ll be at the beach. There is some video, a Polly update, my new favorite dresses and I’m hoping to add a recital recap late tomorrow night. See you in a few weeks!
