A Blog About My Favorite Things

Price Alston Scott… and other things

October 10, 2008 by Kristin Fields 1 Comment

Today our sweet friends Patrick & Beth Scott welcomed their precious baby boy, Alston. He was born around 1:30 this morning, weighing 7 pounds, 11 ounces and was 20 inches long. He is absolutely adorable… he looks like his daddy, but has his mommy’s pretty hair and complexion. We got the chance to visit them this evening and had such a good time snuggling up; even Ella got to “hold” him. Click on the picture above to view all of the photos from our visit.

Today… Ella had to go to the doctor. My mom & I took the day off and spent it with her, together. We went to Hancock Fabrics, The Smocking Bird, The Korduroy Krocodile and of course… Wal-Mart. Ella got lots of pretty things and some beautiful fabric for a few things to come.

The doctor’s appointment was a nightmare. She screamed the entire time. I don’t mean cried a little, or even a lot. I mean screamed… like you do in a haunted house. She screamed so loud and so hard, that she wore herself out and finally went to sleep. Our doctor couldn’t bear to give her a flu shot after that trauma, so she got flu mist in both nostrils and never even woke up. For all of her attempts to be a good girl and survive the visit to Dr. Darby, we bought Ratatouille and watched it when we got home.

After visiting the hospital tonight, we were pulling into the parking lot of Red Robin for a late night supper with Uncle Bull, Aunt Ali & Isabella when Ella threw up all over her car seat and new outfit!! It was clearly mommy’s fault. What possessed me to feed her a huge bowl of watermelon for snack this afternoon. After she got it all out she felt fine, but mommy had to make a mad dash to Belk and pick up an outfit (luckily on nine dollars on sale) before they closed so that Ella wasn’t soaking wet. Not to mention the adults didn’t want to smell sour watermelon throughout dinner :).

When we got home, we decided to save the bath for morning time, but the car seat clearly needed a bath. We stripped the cover off, dismantled the harness and straps and threw it all in the wash. Then I read the directions. “Do not dismantle harness.” “Do not remove buckles from straps, they CANNOT be replaced.” “Do not machine wash cover or straps.” Tell me… who designed a car seat for toddlers that isn’t machine washable? Thankfully, I managed to soak the straps in warm soapy water and did put the harness back together. The cover is out of the wash and hanging from the chandelier in our dining room to prevent shrinkage. Please pray I can figure out how to put it all back together in time for school in the morning.

Check out our sweet outfit below. It was our first official Etsy purchase and we are tickled. Michelle, at Apricots & Lollipops, even through in a precious kerchief headband to match. We were just too independent for that today.

Sorry for the ramble. Have a great Friday!
