A Blog About My Favorite Things

Look at my face…

November 5, 2008 by Kristin Fields 2 Comments

I swear, I’m learning that everything I say is free game for repeating by Ella. Good and bad. There are things that I say that can’t be classified as bad, but certainly sound ridiculous coming out of her mouth. “Look at my face” is one of them. I must say this all the time because I hear her repeating it to everyone… her barbies, her babies, the dog. Last night I was putting Ella in the bathtub and the following occurred.

After running the bath and plopping her in, I gave her a baby doll and rag to play with. I turned around to do a few things and heard a few interesting words. I turned around and the doll was upside down, legs spread in one hand. In the other, was a rag wrapped around her finger and she was furiously scrubbing the baby’s hiney!! This is what I heard… “You gotta spread you legs. I gotta get it. The poop is yucky and it’s on you fanny. Let me get the poop, it’ll make you fanny feel better. Are you listenin’ to me? Look at my face! Spread you legs or you get a spanking!”

Is that what I say when I’m changing diapers or has my child really learned to string all of that together?? It is amazing what they comprehend at this point. Needless to say, I had to leave the room for a moment to keep from laughing at her and Josh really got a kick out of it, too. Don’t worry, I wasn’t too far to hear her continually berating her baby — she was safe and sound in the tub!

Oh, and the pictures above? You think I’d have learned my lesson after the repeated Vaseline incidents. She went into the bathroom ahead of me and when I came in she was squirting her foamy bath wash all over her hands and rubbing it on the toilet? At least it was soap and the potty got a good scrub!
