A Blog About My Favorite Things

{the weekend, part 2}

April 8, 2009 by Kristin Fields 1 Comment

**When I posted the prayer request yesterday, I didn’t expect to generate so much chatter. For each of you who commented or emailed me I AM NOT PREGNANT :). The matter is much simpler and you’ll probably laugh at me later. I only asked for your prayers because I’m a worrier by nature. Thank you for your response, though, I appreciate your friendship so much!**
Even though we were very excited about spending the day together, SD had to go to work. Ella & I slept late and took our time eating breakfast, cleaning house and getting ready. Since this was my only weekend home between now and Easter/wedding festivities I had many errands to run. Final wedding details to take care of, groceries to buy, and Easter baskets to coordinate.

Fortunately for me, Ella is already a fan of the lunch date. We made a quick stop at the bank, where Ella’s window was rolled down so she could sweet talk the teller. We left with a lovely pink, bubble-gum-flavored sucker.

Next on our list was Smith’s Variety to look at baby gifts, wrapping paper and so that I could secretly finish up shopping for the bunny. She wanted a prize from this store, but couldn’t find exactly what she was looking for. She said, “I can’t find what I want in this store. Can we go to another store?” If you’ve ever been to Smith’s, you’ll know that is ridiculous!

Target was a quick stop, we picked up some supplies for Easter goodies for our friends {we’ll be sharing those later in the week} and we were off to lunch. I’m sad that I didn’t take my camera to lunch, it was too cute. My child loves Chipotle and I only wish you could hear her say it. We had chicken tacos and while I was chugging the tea to keep from burning my mouth, Ella never took a break. I kept reminding her to take a drink of water so her mouth wouldn’t start burning and she kept saying it was fine. I guess all of that pico de gallo we make at home prepared her for the spicy treat. It is so much fun that she is at an age where we can eat together and enjoy each other’s company. We can actually have a conversation and it reminded me of how much I missed her last week.

We also managed to hit up the grocery store on our way home which is always fun for El. In general, I buy groceries on Monday evenings on my way home from work. She is very rarely with me when I pick up a few items, much less when I’m doing major grocery shopping. We finished up her Easter goodies, she picked out some new pajamas and we re-stocked our fridge. I realized then that she’s probably the only two-year-old I know that is obsessed with food and enjoys grocery shopping. As we turned into the produce aisle, she yelled out, “Look Mommy! There’s some cilantro! Do we got cilantro at our home?” The grocery store worker stocking the produce shelves got cracked up. I turned around to see where she was pointing and sure enough, it was cilantro. Can you tell we make pico de gallo on a regular basis?
